Nana Kwame Nkansa ll, Chief of Jomoro in the Aowin Municipality of Ghana’s Western North Region, has constructed a Modern Maternity Block to serve the people of Jomoro and its surrounding areas.
The Maternity Block is well-equipped with modern medical equipment in each ward.
The Maternity Block consists of a waiting room, a delivery room with a modern delivery bed, and rooms with three air conditioners.
According to Nana Kwame Nkansa II, GH 1.6 billion was invested in the project’s development.
He named the Maternity Block after his niece Magdalene Cobbina who was the first female lawyer called into the Ghana Bar Association in the Aowin municipality after its inception.
“I built this maternity block to honor Lawyer Magdalene Cobbina to encourage other females and all the young ones to take their education seriously”, Nana Kwame Nkansa told the media.
That being said, he stated that education is one of the most important aspects of any community’s development, and plans are being made to assist people who are ready to attend school to improve Jomoro’s human capital.
He said access to the internet is one of the major challenges that the people of the Jomoro Community are facing.
” Jomoro-Enchi Community is a town well-populated due to the community mining, but the problem is that we don’t have good Internet access to enable Internet transactions and mobile phoning”, Nana Nkansah.
The state of mobile networks in the area is very bad affecting education, health, and other business activities.
However, he is calling on the government to take immediate steps to help resolve the network problem in the area.
Mr. Joseph Abass Asigri, Municipal Health Director, expressed gratitude to Nana Kwame Nkansah II for his consistent support for the health sector and the welfare of his people.
Dr. Joseph Abass promises to make sure the maternity block is used for its intended purpose.
He also calls on the various opinion leaders in the Aowin Municipality in Ghana’s Western North Region to take similar steps to assist Ghana Health Services in any way they can to ensure better health delivery.
Lawyer Magdalene Cobbina in her turn advises the Jomoro community’s youth to take their lives seriously, make them meaningful, and give back to their community.
She appealed to the people of the Jomoro Community to do well to protect the facility through the culture of maintenance.
