Bono East: Ghana Police restore calm after violent mob frees suspects from Kwame Danso District Court

The Bono East Regional Police Command has restored calm in Kwame Danso, Sene West District, following a brazen violent mob attack on the District Court and Police Headquarters on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

According to an official police press release issued on Thursday, around 10:30 a.m., while the Kwame Danso District Court was in session, an irate mob of approximately 100 youths besieged the court premises. The group, armed and aggressive, vandalized furniture, fans, and other items, assaulted individuals present, and forcibly removed two accused persons who were standing trial. They also attacked the complainant in the case.

According to the statment, the mob proceeded to the Kwame Danso Police Headquarters, where they assaulted two officers on duty and caused further vandalism to the station. Reinforcements from the Atebubu Division, supported by Formed Police Units (FPUs), were swiftly deployed to the scene, successfully restoring order.

” The youths later attacked two officers who were on duty at the Kwame Danso Police Headquarters, vandalized the police station. A reinforcement team from the Atebubu Division, together with a detachment of the Formed Police Units (FPUs), arrived to restore order.”

On the directives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Kwame Danso Police Station and District Police Headquarters have been temporarily closed, with all personnel reassigned to other areas in the region until further notice.

The police have vowed to pursue and apprehend all individuals involved in the incident. “The Command assures the public that it will pursue and track down all persons connected to this criminal act, and perpetrators will be identified, arrested and made to face the full consequences of the law,” the statement read, signed by ASP/MR. Appiah Danquah, Acting Public Relations Officer for the Bono East Region.
