Ghanaians urged to cultivate the habit of saving

Mary Yeboah, Manageress of Ebenezer Cooperative Credit Union, has urged the public to cultivate the habit of saving. She explaineed that saving is key to securing one’s financial future and recommended the Union as a credible institution for managing money safely.

In an interview with our reporter ahead of the Union’s 30th anniversary and Annual General Meeting, slated for December 15, 2025, at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Mrs. Yeboah encouraged the public to acknowledge the founders of the Union, whose main motive was to help members save money for future use.

She said, “My advice to the public is to acknowledge those who started this cooperative. Their main motive was to save money for future use, so I urge everyone to cultivate the habit of saving, as it can prevent many financial challenges in the future. I also recommend Ebenezer Cooperative Credit Union to anyone who wants a safe place to save their money or is looking for a credible financial institution to work with.”

Touching on the services they render, she revealed that the Union has mobile bankers to make saving convenient for customers and noted that every member is a shareholder. The Union offers a variety of services, including “personal savings, susu accounts, susu box savings, children’s accounts, fixed deposits, normal loans, SME loans, Women in Development loans, Micro and Medium Credit loans, Controller and Accountant General loans, as well as e-zwich and mobile money services.”

She added that the Union’s doors are open to individuals across all districts where branches are located, including Techiman, Wenchi, and Banda. She also invited parents who have opened children’s accounts for their wards to bring them to the upcoming Annual General Meeting, where they will be educated on how the Union operates and how to manage savings effectively.

“Our doors are open to individuals across all districts where our branches are located; Techiman, Wenchi, and Banda. We are also inviting parents who have opened children’s accounts for their wards to bring them to our upcoming Annual General Meeting, where we will educate them on how things are done at Ebenezer Cooperative Credit Union.”
